Hi, my name is Lucas Kielman, and I am 20 years old. I was born and raised in Groningen and decided to stay in the city to pursue my studies. After completing my first year of Business Administration, I realised I had some extra time. I heard great stories about TeMa from Frederick Lourens, so I signed up and attended a few introductory activities, which allowed me to meet many new people. At some point, I decided to apply to become an active member!
During my gap year, I worked at three different companies, all within the logistics sector, which encompassed both passenger and freight transport. I still work at one of these companies as a travel specialist for a train travel agency. I really enjoy organising things and coordinating with different parties, which is why I am now responsible for Acquisition & Day Coordination in the Career Committee. Together with my committee members, we organize the In-House Tour in March, visiting four companies in two days.
In the half-year that I have been a member of TeMa, I have never regretted joining. I am part of a fun and sociable committee, and even outside of our regular committee meetings, I meet up with some of the members. Due to this and the other general TeMa activities, the association has truly become an integral part of my life.
What I really appreciate about TeMa is that everyone knows each other, which makes the atmosphere always enjoyable. It is also very flexible: you can always drop by “Het Hok” for a chat and choose which activities you want to attend. Although career opportunities were not my primary motivation at first, I appreciate that TeMa also provides many options for future professional development.
Thanks to TeMa, I have gained new insights into the business world, but above all, I have made great new friends!
