Who Are We? - Hanna Kreye

Hey! I’m Hanna, 23 years old and from Germany. I moved to Groningen in September 2023 to start my Master’s in Supply Chain and Human Resource Management. When I arrived, I didn’t really know much about study associations or which one would be a good fit for me. I was just strolling around at the introduction fair, completely overwhelmed by all the different associations and offers out there. A fellow student mentioned TeMa and said it’s the association to join if you’re studying SCM, so I thought, why not? Looking back, that was one of the best decisions I’ve made since moving here.

I started off in the Master Committee, which turned out to be a great way to get to know people and slowly find my place in Dutch student culture. I had no idea how much of a difference it makes to be part of a group like this. Through TeMa, I got to attend events that helped me understand the study environment better and gave me insights into companies and career opportunities in the Netherlands.

One of my favorite events was the recent TeMa Conference. Getting to know companies, learning about current topics in the supply chain field, and joining workshops really helped me figure out which direction I want to go in professionally. Another personal highlight are the monthly socials, the perfect way to catch up with others, enjoy a beer, and meet new people.

After my first committee ended, I didn’t want to stop, so I joined the Weekend Trip Committee, and after that, the Marketing Committee. I really enjoy being in a committee: having regular dinner evenings, working together on something with motivated people, and just having a good time. I’ve met some amazing people through it, people I now call friends.

For me, TeMa is more than just a study association. It helped me feel at home in a new country. So if you’re new in Groningen, especially as an international, I can really recommend giving it a try. You’ll meet great people, have fun, and learn a lot both formally and informally.
